In today's industry, there is a critical market convergence. On the hand, there is a rapidly growing demand for individuals who can build new ventures around unmet medical needs while considering global strategy from the early stages of development. On the other hand, academia is expected to demonstrate the ability to create innovative medical technologies from research outcomes, along with clear exit strategies for commercialization and startups. This expectations has been highlighted in grant applications to organizations such as the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED).

This course aims to cultivate talent that is highly valued in both industry and academia—specifically, individuals capable of creating new businesses and innovative medical technologies that respond to unmet needs while considering exit strategies and global expansion from the development phase.

The program consists of lectures and group work focusing on how to develop business strategies for pharmaceuticals and medical devices. During group work, participants will engage in case studies based on recent topics in pharmaceutical and medical device development and will formulate global business models. Additionally, feedback will be provided by experts who have been directly involved in development, allowing participants to gain practical insights into real-world decision-making processes.
