Graduated from the School of Medicine, University of Tsukuba, and earned a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences from its Graduate School of Comprehensive Human Sciences. A board-certified cardiologist, he joined the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tsukuba, as an Assistant Professor in 2014 and was promoted to Lecturer in 2018 and Associate Professor in 2023. Since 2016, he has been affiliated with the Tsukuba Clinical Research and Development Organization (T-CReDO). Since 2018, he has led Research Studio, an inter-university collaborative platform dedicated to training medical entrepreneurs. In October 2024, he assumed the directorship of the Center for Advancing Translational Research, where he leads an AMED University-based Medical Startup Program.

Hiroshi NOGUCHI

Graduated from the University of Tsukuba. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Tsukuba Hospital and earned board certification in orthopedics. Specialized in spine surgery, he continues to refine his skills through daily clinical practice as a certified instructor of the Japanese Society for Spine Surgery and Related Research.  ​

During graduate school, he engaged in joint research initiatives with industry partners focused on artificial bone development. He was subsequently seconded to the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA) under the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare’s Innovative Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Initiative, where he spent several years conducting high-level medical device reviews. Leveraging this extensive regulatory, research and development background, he has served as Director of the Center for Innovative Medicine and Engineering since 2016, supporting translational and clinical projects by defining and executing robust market exit strategies.​

In 2019, he was awarded a certificate upon completing the Stanford Biodesign Global Faculty in Training Program and actively participates as Global Faculty in biodesign activities within Japan. He currently conducts collaborative research with startups originating from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) and national research institution scientists, while also supporting researchers engaged in medical-engineering collaboration.​

He completed his initial clinical training program at University of Tsukuba Hospital as well as the advanced training program in Urology at the same institution. Board-certified urologist with advanced specialization in male fertility, sexual dysfunction, and oncofertility developed through his tenure at the Reproduction Center of the International University of Health and Welfare Hospital. ​
Currently, he leverages his clinical expertise to drive diagnostic and therapeutic innovation in benign male reproductive disorders. Since 2022, he has been supporting translational and clinical research focusing on the development of novel pharmaceuticals of university-based medical research.​
