During graduate school, he engaged in joint research initiatives with industry partners focused on artificial bone development. He was subsequently seconded to the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA) under the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare’s Innovative Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Initiative, where he spent several years conducting high-level medical device reviews. Leveraging this extensive regulatory, research and development background, he has served as Director of the Center for Innovative Medicine and Engineering since 2016, supporting translational and clinical projects by defining and executing robust market exit strategies.
In 2019, he was awarded a certificate upon completing the Stanford Biodesign Global Faculty in Training Program and actively participates as Global Faculty in biodesign activities within Japan. He currently conducts collaborative research with startups originating from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) and national research institution scientists, while also supporting researchers engaged in medical-engineering collaboration.
