CIME

Overview

Enabling the Future of Healthcare Through Advanced Scientific Collaboration.

Overview:
The Center for Innovative Medicine and Engineering (CIME) is a dedicated unit within the University Hospital that fosters the clinical development of medical devices and pharmaceuticals through interdisciplinary research in partnership with industry and academia.

CIME is strategically located for convenient access to both inpatient wards and outpatient care areas, fostering a collaborative environment for healthcare professionals and external researchers to conduct proof-of-concept and validation studies. The facility offers both shared and private office spaces, making it easy for external partners to participate as co-researchers. As a central hub for clinical research, CIME brings together companies and research institutions, and also plays a pivotal role in organizing events such as the Tsukuba Interdisciplinary Medical Seminar. Additionally, it helps connect hospital departments with university organizations. These efforts include clinical observation programs (Discovery Program), medical needs assessments, and strategic development advice—all designed to accelerate the translation of cutting-edge science into innovative medical solutions for the future.
